The North American P-51 Mustang was an American single-engine fighter during World War II. It was produced at North American Aviation's facilities in the USA. Successfully used in the U.S. Air Force and its allies during World War II and during the Korean War. A very successful design from 1940 meant that the aircraft was constantly developed until 1986! During 46 years, about 15-16 thousand Mustangs were produced. Today, many of these machines are in private hands. Mustangs are now eagerly used in show flights and sports competitions.
