C-FGXW first rolled off the production line in 1944. She was produced for the war effort, operating on behalf of both the United States Army Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force. Following military service, C-FGXW joined Trans Canada Airlines for the next part of her career. For 11 years she safely transported passengers across Canada. Following her civil service, she joined Transport Canada's fleet, performing airway calibration and helped make the skies a safer place.
C-FGXW was finally acquired by KF-Aerospace Owner & Founder Barry Lapoine. On June 10, 1986 Lapointe started what would be a 2 month circumnavigation of the globe. The flight was intended to celebrate the 1986 world expo in Vancouver and the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the DC-3. C-FGXW visited 55 cities in 28 countries, picking up autographs and stickers everywhere she landed. Upon the conclusion of her tour, FGXW had the distinction of being the first DC-3 ever to circumnavigate the globe.
Now is your chance to own a piece of an aircraft that his literally flown around the world.
